December “Trunk Show” at Haystack Gallery
Features Jewelry from the Pacific West Coast
to the Plaines of Israel

CANNON BEACH, OREGON – Haystack Gallery, celebrating its 33rd anniversary in Cannon Beach, is featuring our jewelry “Trunk Show” for the month of December. Artists range from local artists working in dichroic glass and beads to two silver jewelers living in Israel.

“We have such a diverse selection of jewelry artists and styles from Pop Art watches and dichroic glass pendants to sterling silver and gold necklaces, says Patty Coomes, co-owner of Haystack Gallery. To highlight our outstanding selection we have asked our artists to put together some of their special and unique pieces for our “Trunk Show” in December.”

Featured artists

Artist Sonya Paz from California with her colorful Pop Art watches, 2000 year old Roman Glass from the archaeological digs in Israel, Astoria artist Joleen Wambolt with her dichroic glass pendant necklaces and earrings, Aprel Rasmussen from Washington state showing her semi-precious stone necklaces and bracelets, to the Beit-Nir kibbutz in Israel. Featuring artists Ziva Goren and Sarah Salomon with their unique European styled silver necklaces and earrings our jewelry adds sparkle for anytime of year.

Sonya Paz has a passion for Modern Art, Pop Art, Cubism, Modernism and Surrealism. These combined influences can be seen in much of her work, where traditional styles compete with energetic pop art images of the past 25 years.

Her work is engaging yet simple, motivating and energized, with colors that pull you in like a vortex. Bold shapes and vibrant colors leap off her canvases, while her images explode in an energetic and wildly whimsical style. These images show up on her playful and colorful watches.

Sonya's paintings and vivid images are a reflection of her California roots and her active lifestyle. Her positive, creative attitude and passionate expression represent an optimistic view of the world. Her works are inspired by the Cubist movement as well as from American Pop Art and seasoned by traveling the world to study art and its history.

This special collection of silver jewelry is the work of two talented designers inspired by the beautiful surroundings at Kibbutz Beit-Nir and by Israeli culture.

Ziva Goren was born in Israel and studied art, crafts & interior design at the Bezalel School of Arts in Jerusalem . She was one of the founders of a small workshop that grew into the Beit-Nir Jewelry factory.

Sarah Salomon was born in Israel and studied art, sculpture, painting and jewelry design in Memad, one of the finest institutes in Israel.

For more than 40 years, Beit-Nir Jewelry has crafted a unique line of hand-made jewelry combining silver with gold and semi-precious stones in their studio in Kibbutz Beit-Nir in the hills of the Negev Desert .

This jewelry is the work of many talented designers at Kibbutz Revadim and is inspired by the beautiful surroundings and culture of Israel .

Their jewelry is inlaid with a fragment of Roman glass, discovered in an archaeological excavation in the Holy Land . The patina was created by chemical interaction with mineral-rich soil over the course of 2000 years.

Aprel Rasmussen is an artist based Washington state. She was originally trained in the field of interior design. Aprel's love of color and texture soon found its way into her hobby of jewelry design. Now designing jewelry full-time, she incorporates her love of the unusual with a trained eye for pattern, color, shape, and texture. Many of her original designs mix freshwater pearls, crystals and uncommon natural stones accented with large, silver and natural pendants.

Aprel now offers two lines of beautiful handmade jewelry. A few years ago she began the new Aprel Rasmussen Signature Line. It features elegant, show-stopping pieces that all have her hallmark signature tag markings. Both lines feature full sets that include necklace, bracelet, and earrings.

Joleen Wambolt , a self-taught artist, moved to Astoria in 1998 to fulfill her childhood dream of living by the ocean and creating art. Her hand-made dichroic glass pendants, necklaces and earrings reflect the ever changing movement and colors of the Pacific Northwest 's atmosphere and feelings.
